Orthopaedic surgery and in particular trauma surgery have made rapid strides in the last decade. Newer techniques and implant designs have helped achieve better results for our patients. Paediatric Orthopaedics and trauma are now well established as a subspeciality and it is heartening to note that a good number of our young surgeons are getting trained in this subspeciality. However, the fact remains that Paediatric Orthopaedic surgeons are available in only a few select cities and institutions. Most times, it is the General Orthopaedic surgeon who deals with the majority of Paediatric trauma across the length and breadth of India.
Keeping this in mind the Orthopaedic Association of South Indian States(OASIS) has decided to bring out a monograph on Paediatric Elbow trauma. This monograph is extensive, up to date with references and is a must-read for every Orthopaedic surgeon who deals with Paediatric trauma.
I congratulate the authors for bringing out an outstanding monograph and thank them for their time and dedication. My special thanks to Dr. Vidyasagar Chandankere who as Section coordinator along with Editors Dr. Hitesh Shah and Dr. Thomas Palocaren were instrumental in selecting the authors and the topics and bringing out an excellent monograph.
